THE CLIENT
A Connecticut-based biopharmaceutical company with approximately $297.6 million in annual revenue needed to replace a fragmented, Excel-dependent monthly financial reporting process with an automated, real-time analytics capability.
THE FOUNDATION
The organization maintained financial data in SQL Server with Power BI as the reporting tool and Excel as an intermediate layer for data preparation and distribution. Core financial records including P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet data were available but required significant manual handling before reporting could be produced.
THE CONSTRAINT
Reliance on Excel as an intermediary created a brittle, manual workflow. Reporting required repetitive manual refresh cycles, lacked dynamic period selection, and did not enforce data access controls. The process was slow, error-prone, and unable to support the analytical depth leadership needed.
THE MULTIPLIER
Logic Pursuits performed end-to-end data preparation in SQL Server, standardized the Chart of Accounts for consistent financial structuring, integrated Power BI directly with SQL Server to eliminate Excel dependency, developed interactive dashboards with dynamic period filters and waterfall visuals, and implemented Row-Level Security and automated refresh schedules for hands-free reporting.
WHAT CHANGED
Financial reporting moved from a manual, Excel-driven process to a fully automated, cloud-connected analytics environment. CFO-level users gained real-time access to clean, secured financial data with the analytical flexibility to support faster, more confident decisions.
